Earlier this week we published an interview with Thami Schweichler, one of the idealizers of Makers Unite. In the interview, he mentions their matchmaking program between refugees and Dutch citizens, and as that’s a great initiative, here is this fantastic opportunity.

Makers Unite is a social enterprise in Amsterdam where local people and newcomers meet. Our social inclusion program is based on creating together sustainable products with a story. We believe that making things together leads to dialogue and trust. By the power of making, people are connected to real opportunities.

VOLUNTEER POSITION +/- 2 – 4 HOURS A WEEK

For our participants, we are looking for buddies who can support them in taking the next steps.

As a buddy:

–        You will have one-on-one conversations with a newcomer that is matched to you

–        Support a newcomer in making the next steps in their career, be it finding an internship, education or a job.

–        Be a ‘connector’ for a newcomer in being in contact with Dutch organizations and partners of Makers Unite network.

–        You support the newcomer in building a network and support this by offering your own professional network.

WHO ARE YOU?

–        You are experienced or interested in working directly with newcomers

–        You are aware of intercultural communication differences or willing to learn about this

–        You have networking skills and can easily connect with people from the creative sector

–        Preferably you have a network in the creative sector (as our program focuses mainly on creatives)

–        Preferably you are Dutch-speaking, as newcomers are learning the language

WHAT DO WE OFFER YOU

Makers Unite will offer you coaching and support on the job. We are a young, dynamic and fast-growing organization and we offer you a creative work environment with a lot of space for your own input. We are based at Garage Notweg (Notweg 38) in Amsterdam New-West and in the Diaconie Amsterdam (Nieuwe Herengracht 18).

SO. WHAT NOW?

Are you interested? Send an email with your CV to sophie@makersunite.eu

We are looking forward meeting you!
